This place is made for mingling! With it’s delicious shareable selections, patio, and dim lights, who can resist a night on the town with good company and delightful food.
We started our adventure with half a dozen oyster. They were a fresh start to our meal. We followed it with the salmon terrine spread over bread. It was rich in flavor but didn’t leave a heavy feeling in your stomach. On to our main entree for the night, wild mushroom pizza with truffle oil. Pizza is one of our favorite thing to dine on and this one didn’t disappoint. With the right amount of truffle oil, mushroom, and a crisp dough there wasn’t a dull bite. We ended our night with the signature toffee pudding. With the anticipation of it being overly sweet, the ice cream that oozed over made it a perfect ending to our adventure. We will be mingling here again to try the other tasty offering.
Half Dozen East Coast Oysters, Cucumber Mignonette, Tabasco, Lemon - $16
Serving rustic modern cuisines, we dined at Tar & Roses in Santa Monica, CA. Chef Andrew Kirschner broke down the menu into 4 sections: Snacks, Veggies, Small, and Large. We ordered plates from every sections except the veggies. We just weren’t in the mood for extra greens. The dishes portions were perfect for tasting.
In order of pictures, here are one liner: Popcorn Piglets, Stand Out Ribs, refreshing beets for the heat, BAHH-belly, one sliver, and collection of the ocean.
Snack | popped corn / crisp bacon / brown sugar / chili $6
Snack | balsamic glazed ribs / chili / fried basil $8
Foie gras loco moco, chicken liver toast, pork belly sandwiches, marrow bone and bacon chocolate bar will be some of the dishes you’ll hear people gush over after eating at Animal restaurant. And we feel the same way. The food is awesomely delicious, consistent and flavorful with bold rich flavors. Yes, we’ve ate here several time already. Some of our favorites are below:
marrow bone | chimichurri, caramelized onions ($10)
barbeque pork belly sandwiches | slaw, brioche bun ($13)
Tee Time? Welcome to Trump National Golf Club with amazing views of California coast. Not only does Trump National Golf Club provide a luxury golf experience but they provide a great dining experience with Executive Chef Jean-Pierre Vincent. Let’s pair up our Tee Time with Afternoon Tea Time.
Seated in the dining area of red chairs and dome printed ceiling, our server bought out our Afternoon Tea on a three dish rack and teapots. The teapots are set on top of the gold rim cup. With Trump’s signature gold tier holder, each tier was filled with goodies. Starting from the bottom up.
We had dinner at Tavern for dineLA week. The menu looked like a good deal since their dineLA menu featured dishes on their regular menu. Dinner here for dineLA is 3-courses for $44 without tax and tip. Regular price main dishes are around $30.
The entrance to the Tavern leads you into the lobby/host area. On the left-side, you’ll see The Larder, the casual cafe/bakery side of the restaurant. On the right-side, you’ll see the bar area and past the bar is the main dining room in the glass-enclosed atrium.
After we were handed the menus, our server brought out a complementary bowl of room temp sourdough bread with a plate of butter and sea salt. The outside was crispy with a soft dense interior. It would have tasted better toasted.
We decided on two 3-course dineLA menus and an order from the regular menu.
